Whole fresh cranberries and an array of spices, including star anise and cinnamon, form the foundation for this pink drink.
INGREDIENTS
  • 1 1/2 parts Stoli® Citros
  • 1/2 part Cointreau
  • 1/2 part housemade five-spice cranberry shrub (see recipe*)
  • 1/2 part fresh lime juice
  • 1 dash orange bitters
  • 1 lime wheel
  • 3 to 4 whole fresh cranberries
PREPARATION
Combine liquid ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake thoroughly and strain into a chilled cocktail coupe glass. Garnish with a lime wheel and several cranberries.
*FOR 5-SPICE CRANBERRY SHRUB
INGREDIENTS
  • 2 cups cranberries
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. ground star anise
  • 1 tsp. ground Szechuan peppercorn
  • 1 tsp. ground fennel seed
  • 1 tsp. ground clove
  • 2 cups apple cider vinegar
PREPARATION
Add cranberries to a mason jar or 1-quart bowl and muddle to extract juice. Add sugar and ground spices and mix until sugar is dissolving. Allow to rest for 24 to 48 hours. Add vinegar and stir to combine. Allow to rest for 10 days in a cold place, shaking periodically to make sure sugar is entirely dissolved. Filter through a fine strainer and store in a closed bottle.
